Celtics Make BIG moves

The Boston Celtics former starting five will never be known as "unsuccessfull". their former starting five consisting of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Kenrick Perkins made it to two NBA finals appearences   and won one out of those two times. Coach Doc Rivers has said before that when this starting five were all healthy they never lost a playoff series (this was true as the only time this team lost was when Kevin Garnett was out in 2009 and Kendrick Perkins missed game 7 of the finals in 2010). The celtics are off to a great start this season boasting a 43-15 record which is the best in the East. At the All-star break they were once again looking like the favorite to represent the Eastern conference in the 2011 NBA finals. All of these reasons added to the shocker of trading starting center Kendrick Perkins. Perkins was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder along with Nate Robinson (who I was not sad to see leave) for small forward Jeff Green and center Nenad Kristec. The trade sent shockwaves throughout the NBA as many asked why the Celtics would trade away their established big man. The team also moved rookie Luke Harangody, injury proned Marquis Daniels, and center Semih Erden. All this action allowed  the Celtics to open up 3 spots on their 15 man roster. Although it was sad to see Perkins leave, I understand the fact that the Celtics needed more scoring threats as their bench has struggled this year. Perkins is also one of the best defensive centers in the NBA, but one of the worst offensively. all of these reasons contributed to all of the last minute action the Celtics roster saw. Since having their two new additions, the Celtics have won back to back games. They also made a big move today signing versatile power Forward Troy Murphy. So now the Celtics are stacked in the front court positions with 6 players who are above 6'10. They also got much needed help at the small forward position in signing Jeff Green. All of this recent action has gotten celtics fans such as myself very excited as the playoffs draw further and further. Look for Boston to make some more moves this weekend. I've been hearing rumors that they are looking to sign small forward Corey Brwer, which is something that would make General manager Danny Ainge look like a genius. Who knows, there could be a chance that we might see Antoine Walker back in Green as he continues his quest for a come back. say what you want about all of the Celtics recent moves, but nobody can doubt that it is a very exciting time to be a Celtics fan.

Surfing the Web

I love surfing the web. Sites like Stumbleupon are totally my thing. I feel as though this is my favorite part about the internet. Finding funny videos and pictures is something that I have liked doing since i started using the internet. I go on stumble upon once in awhile.I was on it last night and found out that there are such things as green mint chocolate chip cookies and Tigers with down syndrome. Yes tigers with down syndrome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwzZzrIY5ZU. I also like going on this website called http://www.ebaumsworld.com/. This website is very old and people used to go on it much more back in the day. I still go on it all the time as they never fail to have funny videos, pictures, interesting web links, and many other things. i was actually on it yesterday and found this pretty cool video of some scuba diver who had a majestic encounter with a Whale http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/81323805/. I think that websites like this are fun and a great way to kill time. Another favorite that i have is funny or die.com. They have a lot of funny videos as this website was started by Will Ferrell. I found a very funny prank phone call video by some weird kid http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/5c1c7f81ce/maine-coon-cat. I think that websites target people who are bored and looking for a laugh or something interesting. The internet is so vast that it is almost impossible to find the hidden gems that are out there. If it were not for sights like these, we may never find videos like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVcVSEa_Ooo.

Oscar edition

Big week in Hollywood! The Academy awards are this coming sunday so the town is buzzing. In terms of the favorites to take  home the award, "The Kings Speech" is favored to win best picture, Christain Bale is favored to win best actor in a supporting role for his part in "The Fighter", either Colin Firth or Jeff Bridges will take home the coveted best actor award. Firth is being nominated for his role in "The Kings Speech" and Bridges for his role in "True Grit". If Bridges can pull off the upset, he will join Spencer Tracy and my man Tom Hanks as the only actors to have won the award two years in a row. Don't think that the ladies are going quietly as Helena Bonham Carter is favored for best actress in a supporting role for her work in "The Kings Speech". The award for best actress in a leading role is totally up in the air, but I would say Natalie Portman will most likely take it home for her role in "The Black Swan". The best director category is stacked with names like the Coen brothers and Darren Aronofsky. I'll have to give it to director Tom Hooper for "The Kings Speech", which looks like it will be the big winner on the night. It should be an entertaining night as many are unsure who will win what. The only sure thing is that Toy Story 3 will win best animated picture, but I guess we will just have to wait and see!

Critique of IMDB Blog

IMDB or internet movie database is a blog site that deals in everything movies. There are literally thousands of blogs discussing movies. Any movie can fall under the disscussion whether it is The Godfather or the Shining. I think the blog does a real good job as it opens up blog s questions and talk about some of our favorite movies. things like movie news and gossip are spread on this site. This site commonly has gossip on highly anticipated movies such as the sequel to Christopher Nolans smash hit "The Dark Knight". Reading this blog, I learned that the highly anticipated "The Dark Knight Rises" will feature Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hatthaway as Cat Women, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the holiday killer. It is also rumored on this blog that Robin Williams may be playing criminal mastermind Hugo Strange, but hat is for another blog.
